garlic for ingrown toenails Ingrown toenails are a real nuisance creating a real discomfort. Ingrown toenails occur when the nail grows too much and puts pressure on the toenail bed. This problem is generally caused by wearing too-tight shoes. As a matter of fact, women are more prone to develop ingrown toenails than men because they are wearing high heels. The body weight will transfer to the toenail tips causing some sort of nail bed crushing in the narrowest part of the shoe.

In other situations, ingrown toenails occur when you don’t make your pedicure properly. It’s advisable to square-shape your toenails. A round-shape would promote ingrown toenails appearance – the skin will grow in the cut nail place and when the nail will grow again it will press over and penetrate it.

Proper nail trimming is the first step to prevent the appearance of ingrown toenails. Don’t try to cut the incarnated toenail at home, because you might worsen the situation, ending with a painful surgery.

How to cut ingrown toenails at home without making it worse: Soak your affected toenail in warm water to soften it a bit. Then cut the toenail straight in the superior side using a disinfected nail clipper. Don’t round up the toenail too much or exaggerate with cutting. I advise you to wear wider shoes until the ingrown toenail problem disappears.
